This is crucial because you don’t’ know who is on the other end of the computer. In fact it is a good rule of thumb in general to never give out personal information on a dating site until you are one hundred percent confident in the person you are dealing with over a period of time. If you choose after several emails to give out your telephone number make sure someone else knows that you are doing this to protect yourself.

If you decide to go on a date with someone you met on the Internet there are a few things to keep in mind to make sure your first date is a safe one. Number one is making sure you have a picture of the person in question. You need to know what the person you are dealing with looks like. This is not One Hundred percent either because the person can use a fake picture as well but it is a start.Leave a copy of the picture by the phone at home or if you live alone give it to a friend so they also know what the person looks like if something goes wrong. Secondly, leave the address and number of the place you are meeting the person at with the picture.

Always meet in a public place with lots of people around like a restaurant. Keep your cell phone on and call from the place to your friend so they can keep track of you. This helps in an emergency with an unsavory character. It could save your life.
